Peacebuilders are humanitarian workers, frontline civilians, and other men and women from many nations across the globe, who courageously work to promote peace, justice, and conflict transformation in their respective communities at the local, regional, and national levels. We are passionate about helping them thrive and increase their resilience.
The need
Peacebuilders are tasked with “changing the world,” yet often they are barely hanging on due to the unrestrained nature of the violence, poverty, and despair they face on a daily basis. Many of these professionals, most of whom are exceptionally well-trained and have invaluable experience, are permanently burning out, and some are even ending their own lives from crushing trauma and overwhelming stress.

Petra Peacebuilders operates in a spirit of humility and service, and with the conviction that the sector has a moral responsibility to take care of its own wounded and to help in the prevention of unnecessary wounding where possible. Our efforts in the area of resilience therefore fill an incredibly important gap in the global humanitarian system.
